Denmark-based design studio Made by Makers for Norman-Copenhagen, Tea Egg is a tea infuser for the quick to brew warm cup of tea. Comprising of a perforated bulb made of silicone, the Tea Egg detaches into two pieces – an elongated handle and a circular capsule base. Japanese retail company, MUJI recently opened its first West Coast flagship store in San Francisco. Pepsi’s latest continuation of seasonal soft drink flavors releasing in Japan is Pepsi White. Such as the Salty Watermelon, Pepsi Black, Pepsi Pink, Caribbean Gold, Pepsi Dry, Mont Blanc, Baobob, Azuki, Shiso and Ice Cucumber of the past, Pepsi White features a mandarin orange flavor – a seasonal favorite which is often associated with the Japanese New Year. 2012 LA EigaFest


  Celebrating its 2nd year, the 2012 LA EigaFest film festival hosted by the Japan Film Society is a unique showcase of Japanese and Japanese influenced films to an American audience. Running December 14-16, 2012, LA EigaFest named after the Japanese word for film hopes to increase the presence and appreciation of Japanese film and culture in the U.S. “Our wish is that ‘Eiga’ will become an iconic Japanese-English phrase in the way that ‘Manga’ and ‘Anime’ represent specific visions of modern Japanese art and culture.”


Hawaiian Airlines Begins Direct Flights to Sapporo


Beginning October 30, 2012, Hawaiian Airlines have started direct service between Honolulu’s International Airport (HNL) and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS). Sapporo will be the fourth direct service to Japan that Hawaiian Airlines has introduced over the past two years and restores a 9-year service absence between the two cities following other carriers discontinuation. “We are delighted to be restoring the convenience of nonstop service to Hawaii for travelers in Hokkaido and look forward to increasing numbers of visitors from the region to our island


New Balance + Oshman’s


American-based footwear manufacturer, New Balance has collaborated with Japanese retailer Oshman’s for a customized 574 sneaker. Inspired by the favorite summer drink – mojiotos, the 574 “Mojito” features a suede mint green colorway with dark grey accents on the heel and collar, mint leaf lacelocks and a breathable cork insole. In commemoration of American Rock n’ Roll legend, The Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary, Japanese specialty menswear manufacturer, Mastermind Japan has released a limited edition collection of apparel. Produced in conjunction with Theater8, the collection features The Rolling Stones’ signature tongue and lips design on a various array of garments including jackets, jeans, knitwear, t-shirts and socks.
