Japanese restaurant, Uchi Lounge recently renovated its popular branch store in Sydney’s quiant suburb of Surry Hills. Featuring select organic foods and seasonal tastes by renowned chef and owner Takashi Ohuchi, Uchi Lounge sets itself apart with a distinct fusion of old and new dishes that is sure to leave an indelible impression on your palate.
The interior, redesigned by Japan-based Facet Studio, transforms the atmosphere of the lounge to an embrace of ZEN with a minimalistic dining environment and peaceful ambiance, allowing customers to appreciate the sights and tastes of the meal at a new level. “So how do we enhance the experience of appreciating the cuisine, without destroying this atmosphere treasured by regulars?”, asks the designers from Facet Studio. “As we have been working with ‘repetition’ as a means to build up a deep excitement within people, we thought to utilize this effect to enhance, rather than break, this indefinable nostalgia.” The added ‘repeating’ recycled 100-year-old brick tunnel leading to the dining area adds a sense of repetitive rhythm and enhanced expectations of what’s to come.
