Hoping to turn a profit, Walt Disney Company’s-affiliated theme park, Hong Kong Disneyland is nearly complete with its $468 million three-part expansion. With a net loss of $92.3 million last year alone, Hong Kong Disneyland has called for bold moves to expand quickly in order to attract guests.
Launching July 14, 2012, Hong Kong Disneyland’s “Grizzy Gulch” will be part of the park’s second expansion themed area. Featuring Wild West-themed key attraction Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, a 27 meter-tall roller coaster which twists through the Big Grizzly Mountain. Additional attractions include Geyser Gulch, a replica of the colorful rocks found in Yellowstone National Park with an erupting geyser in addition to a replica old west town and wagon show.
“Grizzly Gulch” will be added to Hong Kong Disneyland’s first phase of the expansion, Toy Story Land which was opened to the public November 17, 2011. The Toy-Story themed zone which was based on Paris’ Walt Disney Studios Park features an assortment of main attractions including RC Racer, Slinky Dog Spin and Toy Soldier Parachute Drop. A third and final phase called “Mystic Point” is scheduled to open in 2013. Link, Link, Link
