Celebrating its 45th year, the 2012 Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival is the second largest outside of Washington, D.C. and one of California’s most prominent celebrations of Asian traditions. Running April 14,15 and April 21,22, 2012, the festival is a dazzling display of Japanese culture and diversity in the Japanese American community. Hosting over 200,000 people in San Francisco’s Japantown, the Cherry Blossom Festival is free to the public and features a grand parade, cultural performances, martial arts, live bands, tea ceremonies and bonsai exhibits. There are also Asian food kiosks and Asian oriented street vendor booths like Kanji calligraphy scrolls, Japanese art and flowers. Link
