07 Mar 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival

Celebrating its 106th year, the 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington D.C. marks the arrival of spring with the nation’s largest and oldest Cherry Blossom Festival. A symbol of continued close relations between Japan and the United States, the Cherry Blossom Festival showcases a tradition of receiving 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo in 1912.

Running March 17th through April 15th, 2018, the National Cherry Blossom Festival has become an annual two-week springtime celebration featuring more than 200 international cultural performances and over 90 other special events ranging from arts and exhibitions to cuisine and sports. With more than 700,000 people visiting Washington D.C.’s Tidal Basin each year to celebrate the festival and enjoy the blossoming cherry trees, this year’s peak bloom time announced by the National Park Service is predicted for March 17-20, 2018.
