Coca-Cola, American soft drink manufacturer has recently released its latest flavor to the Japanese market. Called Coca-Cola Plus, the new beverage contains no calories with five grams of indigestible dextrin – a source of dietary fiber – per 470-ml bottle.

Following more than a decade of research and development, Coca-Cola Plus marks the brand’s latest product under Coca-Cola Japan to join the Food of Specified Health Use (FOSHU) label.

“Coca-Cola Plus is a sugar-free and calorie-free beverage with FOSHU functions and great Coca-Cola taste, so we hope people will drink it with meals,” said Dr. David Machiels, product development director, R&D, Coca-Cola Asia Pacific.

Described as featuring the same great Coca-Cola taste, Coca-Cola Plus suppresses fat absorption and helps to moderate the levels of triglycerides in the blood after eating. Packaged in a white bottle with a red cap, the beverage is aimed toward the growing aging population who are health-conscious and seek functionality. Link, Link
